Why is saying Goodbye so hard...?

like all good things come to an end... leaving someone far away and moving on with your life is so hard. even if its in your own country, they might be living in another state.. but the day comes when u have to head back home, and the ''departing' moment pinches you ... why is that emotion so painful ??..
